Fort Kochi

Secretariat

One of highest political centres in God’s Own Country, the Kerala Government Secretariat is the seat of many bureaucrat offices. Dutch Cemetery

The last burial in Dutch Cemetery was of Captain Joshep Ethelbert Winckler in 1913. The cemetery also has a number of cenotaphs belonging to the British soldiers. Chandragiri Fort

Chandragiri Fort, situated on the banks of Payaswini River in Kasaragod district, is a 17th century citadel. The fort has two sides that face the sea with the watch tower facing the north direction. There are underground passages in the east and west directions. The view of the river, sea and the sunset is extremely beautiful. One can take ride in a boat to the nearby islands and the palm groves.

Kilimanoor Palace

Kilimanoor Palace is a palace located in Kilimanoor, in the Indian state of Kerala. Kilimanoor Palace honours one among the finest artists to ever grace the shores of Kerala, Raja Ravi Varma. Kilimanoor Palace spreads over 15 acres of land which comprises of traditional residential structures of Kerala like the Nalukettu, small and medium sizes buildings, ponds, wells, and sacred groves. Kilimanoor Palace is famous as the birth place of the great artist and painter Raja Ravi Verma.

Mattancherry Palace

The Mattancherry Palace situated at Mattancherry in Ernakulam district, was built by Portuguese in 1557 and presented to Raja Veera Kerala Varma of Kochi. Mattancherry Palace also called the ‘Dutch Palace’, this opulent building showcases the typical ‘Nālukettu’ form of architecture and is built in a quadrangular form. One of the main landmarks and tourist attractions in Kerala, the palace also houses some of the liveliest mythological mural paintings in the country. Other attractions of Dutch Palace include ornate ceilings, traditional floors, stunning arches, and lot more.

Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary

Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is situated at Kumarakom in Kottayam taluk of Kottayam district in the Indian state of Kerala, on the banks of Vembanad Lake. The main attractions are local birds like the waterfowl, cuckoo, owl, egret, heron and the water duck, as well as the migratory Siberian cranes. Parrots, teal, larks, flycatchers, wood beetle, and other birds are seen here during their respective migratory seasons... If you happen to visit this bird reserve during your Kerala trip, you can spot a number of rare and exotic species of birds. Tipu's Fort

The Fort of Tipu Sultan, also known as Palakkad Fort, is in the heart of Palakkad town, Kerala. The Kotta Maidan (fort grounds) encloses a square-shaped fort with its majestic granite walls, a moat, a drawbridge at the entrance, bastions at the centre and four corners. There are various other architectural features which point to its chequered history, and stand testimony to its strategic importance during the 18th and 19th centuries.
